  Anastrozole (Arimidex®) is the aromatase inhibitor of choice.

  This steroid is used when substantial amounts of flavoring steroids are also used, or when one is prone to gynecomastia and uses moderate amounts of such steroids.

  Arimidext does not have the side effects of aminoglutethimide (Cytadren®) and can achieve a very high estrogen blockade, superior to Cytadren®.

  It is possible to greatly reduce estrogen with Arimidext (up to 80%), and for this reason blood tests, or less preferably, salivary tests should be taken after the first week of use to determine if the dosage is correct.

  As an aromatase inhibitor, Arimidext’s mechanism of action, which blocks the conversion of aromatizable steroids into estrogen, contrasts with the mechanism of action of antiestrogens such as clomiphene (Clomid®) or tamoxifen (Nolvadex®), both of which block estrogen receptors in some tissues and activate estrogen receptors in others.

  During a steroid cycle, if you use Arimidext it is usually not necessary to use Clomid, but there may still be benefits to doing so.
