Anavar, the brand name for oral steroid Oxandrolone, was first introduced by the drug manufacturer Searle in 1964. This steroid was designed to be used as a safe growth stimulant in children but soon gained prominence as a potent weight loss drug.
This steroid has the chemical name of 17ß-hydroxy-17a-methyl-2-oxa-5a-androstan-3-one and the molecular formula of C19H30O3.
