HCG stimulates the testes to produce testosterone when natural LH is not present or is deficient. It therefore is useful for maintaining testosterone production and/or testicle size during a steroid cycle. Use of this drug in the taper is rather counterproductive, since the resulting increased testosterone production is itself inhibitory to the hypothalamus and pituitary, delaying recovery. Thus, if this drug is used, it is preferably used during the cycle itself. A daily amount of 500 IU HCG is generally sufficient, and usage should not exceed 1000 IU per day.

Human Chorionic Gonadotropin, HCG, is widely used today in athletics. HCG is not a natural male hormone but mimics the natural hormone LH (Luetinising Hormone) almost identically. LH stimulates the production of testosterone by the testis in males. This HCG sends the same message which results in increased testosterone production by the testes, which is due to the effect of HCG on the leydig cells. Athletes use HCG to increase the body’s own natural production of testosterone which is often depressed by long term steroid use.
This medicine is either injected in a muscle, like the thigh or buttocks, or it may be given under the skin instead. Ask your doctor which way is right for you. You will be taught how to prepare and give this medicine. Use exactly as directed. Take your medicine at regular intervals. Do not take your medicine more often than directed.
It is important that you put your used needles and syringes in a special sharps container. Do not put them in a trash can. If you do not have a sharps container, call your pharmacist or healthcare provider to get one.
Talk to your pediatrician regarding the use of this medicine in children. While this drug may be prescribed for male children as young as several months of age for selected conditions, precautions do apply.
Overdosage: If you think you have taken too much of this medicine contact a poison control center or emergency room at once.
